Edronax (Reboxitine)

Posted by Tap on July 16, 2002, at 15:58:23

I eas earlier on Wellbutrin + Buspar, which worked for me. I then moved to a country where Wellbutrin is not available.

PDoc put me on 30mg Remeron. Now I was told that if Remeron will not work, I should take Reboxitine instead.

I have not heard of this medicine. Is it available in the US? Anybody tried and care to share their experiences.

Thanx

Remeron and Reboxetine

The US FDA denied Pharmacia's application for Reboxetine approval for some reason. I might suggest that if the Remeron doesn't work at 7.5-30mg/day, you may want to augment it with a low dose of Reboxetine. A low dose of Reboxetine in combination with 30mg/day of Remeron is 1-2mg I would suppose. 30mg/day of Remeron is a lot to start off with in my opinion. You won't have to worry about poopout as much if you start as low as you can and slowly increase the dose each time that it seems to be less effective. Mixing Remeron and Wellbutrin or Remeron and Reboxetine is a good way to get around the side effect problem.

I think reboxetine is fantastic for depression...starts working more quickly (about 2- 2.5 weeks for me) and fewer side effects than many of the other ADs. Also, it was very motivating...

p.s. personally I hated Remeron, gained a lot of weight and was sleeping 14+ hours a day...but good luck to you, maybe you'lll have better luck with it.

But did you take a low dose of Remeron and Reboxetine together? I'd love to hear from someone that has. I'm not a huge fan of taking only one drug for many disorders given the current list of approved drugs for mental health.

Check out

for some abstracts on astressin, a drug that I like a lot. What a clever name. Sort of like REMeron.

Shawn,

Thanks for all those links! Have you actually taken that medicine?

I would be very careful about combining drugs that have no proven track record.
I combined Remeron with Effexor and it was the biggest mistake of my life. Since then I have had extreme reactions to any meds that I have taken and I now cannot take any at all.

Thanx you all.

I also found the reboxitine thread above, thanx you all.

I am a bit worried, as the remeron seems to bring about a sort of nervout, confused irritability. It's really hard to explain, sort of like I was watching someone else freaking out and getting all pissed with all people. I keep it pretty well in shack, though. Hardly anyone (who doesn't know me) notices.

I thougt this was a NE effect of Remeron, and therefore I am VERY doubtful if reboxitine, being a NE reuptake inhibitor might be the right thing for me.

Presently, the irritability weighs heavier on me than the depression (Working with people 9 to five - REALLY starting to affect my work. Possible promotion coming up in 2 months...)
