I have just been to see my psychiatrist. I told him exactly what my problem. He has just written to me and told me what he thinks my problem is, which is entirely different to what I told him. Are psychiatrists stupid or is it that they think their patients are stupid. They make me sick!!!!!!

There must be some doctors who don't mind knowledgeable patients, but many do. I've found that they especially don't like it when you diagnose yourself, even for something simple and obvious. It's best to just present your symptoms, wait for them to decide, and if they don't come up with what you thought, then ask them "do you think I could have such-and-such?"

This could be stupidity or there could be some reason (maybe valid, maybe not) behind it. It could even be something as dumb as what conditions your insurance company covers or some similar nonsense.
What did you think your problems was?
What did the pdoc say it was?
Were you looking to get a specific treatment?

Perhaps a wise move would be to educate oneself on exactly what the legal responsibility psychiatrists have.
And when you do let us know :)
