I have GAD/depression/BP and am currently taking 2400mg Neurontin, 5 mg diazepam, 600 mg Lithobid, and 1.25 mg Zyprexa each day. The Lithobid and Zyprexa are new additions. I have taken lithium carbonate before, but with only minimal success. I am having many glimpses of feeling great! This is likely not a placebo effect (although I never throw any idea out alltogether), as I have really only responded to one other drug (lamictal-for a few months).
Okay, now my question...I usually feel really good in the morning, and then a little after noon I get very dizzy and my dizziness/dissociation, that was always my worst problem, appears in a mild form, but enough to prevent me from wanting to do things.
I would like to know what you guys think I can attribute this to? I realize my zyprexa dose is tiny and that could be the culprit (although it has quite a long half-life). I guess it could be just an adjustment thing too, as I have only been on these new meds about 5 days.
Let me know your thoughts. I know this may not last, but I have seen the beautiful world my friends! It is not a metaphor that things look brighter and the colors are more vibrant. It's real! Best of luck to all and I appreciate your comments.

Jaby,Zyprexa really is a wonder drug--whatever you decide, I encourage you to adjust something else. It worked for me after fifteen years of trials. . I only gave it up because of big weight gain, which not everyone gets, and there are some suggestions now how to avoid it. . .WHOA! I just saw your Neurontin dose! I've taken Neurontin-- 2400mg would put me in a coma! IMO, you are *real* safe in reducing that! It's a very flexible drug, easy to decrease--and Zyprexa is sooo much more effective for BP, there's no comparison. It could be, too, that you simply *need* less Neurontin with both Zyprexa and Lithobid on board, so that your former dose is now too much.
Hope this helps--I know how you feel, my experience Zyprexa is a med you can trust. (If they're both new additons, though, why both? It's recommended to add one med at a time, in order to evaluate.

You didn't say what time you take the Zyprexa. Since it is a once a day med I found that the best time for me was after dinner. The sedation (and sometimes dizziness) that it would cause would hit during the night and I woke up refreshed. Try adjusting what time you take it and your body will eventually adjust to it.

Hey guys,
Thanks for your response. 2400 mg Neurontin is actually less than I have taken in the past. I was up to 3600mg/day! It worked great for ruminations and a bit for the dissociation/dizziness.I stated both Lithobid and Zyprexa at the same because my sister had a severe (hospitalized, catatonic, ECT.) a few years ago. The ECT brought her back from the dead and now she takes Lithobid and Zyprexa and is better than she was before the whole episode took place. I would say that the anxiety/depression that I have experienced over the last 5 years is very similar to the way her ordeal started (hers advanced rather quickly though. Back to my point...my doctor and I decided to bag the idea of this being something different than what my sister had and she was dxed BP.
Again, I had taken regular lithium before without any terrific results.
I take only 1.25mg Zyprexa/day and dose it about 2 hours before i go to bed. I wake up feeling great, so I don't think it's the Zyprexa causing the dizziness. I kind of feel like the dizziness is an altered (improved form) of the dizziness/dissociation I have in the past. It is semi-crippling though. I am thinking of bumping the Zyprexa up to just 2.5mg (all at night) to see what happens. The dizziness starting after noon is weird though because zyprexa has such a long half-life. I am a very fast metabolizer though, so maybe I'm kicking it out pretty well. I'm not real concerned about the weight because I am fairly disciplined and work out like a maniac.
I think my sister was up to 10 mg Zyprexa at one time. She had trouble getting off about a decent time ago, but is now doing great (better than me) and only takes lithobid and neurontin.
Any ideas from you guys about the zyprexa dosing? Think I could be kicking out too quickly and that's the reason for the afternnon poop-out? I hope you guys are doing well. Thanks!

I still maintain that adding another, powerful drug can alter the doses of drugs one is already taking.
Good Luck!
