Topamax for bipolar; what dosage?

Posted by sunniebackthen on May 7, 2002, at 14:07:33

I'm currently taking 100mg of Topamax 2X a day and it doesn't seem to be working. I'm also taking Buspar 15mg 3X a day, Effexor 150mg 2X a day and Trazadone 150mg 1X a day. I'm still really depressed and went manic for the first time in I don't know when the other night. I don't want to stop taking the Topamax because of the weight loss (I really need to loose weight.) I was just wondering what is the highest dose givin for Bipolar? I've heard some people say 400mg but I wasn't sure if that was for Bipolar.

Thanks in advance...

I'm bipolar. I was anergic depressed and Topamax augmentation
(upto 400 mg) made me steady-state agitated/hypomanic.

It helped a lot with pain in my face.

Your results will vary..

Take Care,
John
