My doc wanted to put me on a mood stabilizer when I was first diagnosed, but I talked her into letting trying just the anti-depressant, well that worked for a while until I noticed the moods swinging...what made me make the call into her office to ask for the rx was this; my co-workers don't know about me either, you're right it's really nothing to talk about with them and there's such a stigma still, but anyway I snapped at my boss. The good thing is this, he's a rapid cycling unipolar! He actually helped me get started in therapy and treatment. So he totally understood. I decided that I could let that happen any more so I called the doc and she called in a rx for Depakote. The Depakote has worked great for me, but it does make me tired...it is sometimes very difficult to wake up in the mornings. I just try to take it around 6:00 in the evening so I can wake up the next morning. I admit I was reluctant to use the stabilizer at first, but now I am glad I have it. Discuss your options with your doc! See what works for you.
This is the end of the thread.
