Greetings,
I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas to help me wake up in the morning.
I take Serzone 200mg and Neurontin 600mg at bedtime. I sleep heavily through the night, but when I wake in the morning, I feel zombified. Basically very lethargic, mentally unfocused and fuzzy/foggy.
In the morning my usual routine is to get up and have coffee with hubby, <2-3 cups> and have a little something to eat after about an hour or so. Usually this is toast or sometimes Poptarts. <G> I cannot handle fresh fruit first thing in the morning, or I would eat an apple....sigh.
Any ideas would be appreciated. BTW I cannot take a shower, because hubby has to take his, before leaving for work.
Blessings,
RhainyC

Maybe try taking the meds earlier in the evening so they'll be wearing off sooner in the morning?
Unless they put you down immediately I guess!

Maybe your body has adapted to the caffeine to the point that it needs it to get going.
You might try a breakfast higher in protein. I would think getting a good breakfast would be the first priority.
Or maybe some aerobic exercise.
Just some thoughts...

Rhainy, I'm not a morning person & feel groggy when I awake. I've always been groggy - it's not meds that do it for me. My Mom used to have to literally drag me from bed sometimes for school.
I work varying shifts (part-time) & sometimes have to work early in the morning. When I went to university a couple of years ago, I seemed to be unlucky & math classes were always first thing in the morning too.
I found if I could get my adrenaline going, I'd wake up quick. I'd rush myself about & the sheer idea of having to be somewhere on time would get me all pumped up. Now when I get to wake up more leisurely on mornings I don't work, I can still drag on forever. But if I wash my face right away, & start preparing like I've got a deadline to make, I'll wake up fast.
It's that "flight or fight" response from adrenaline that does it for me. I don't enjoy waking up in a rush at all, but I find that I'd rather wake up & accomplish something than to look back & realise that I wasted the morning instead.
This is the end of the thread.
