HI,
You posted a message about having success augmenting a tricyclic with lithium.
I was wondering did you feel the entire effect
right away or did it build over several days/weeks?I've been augmenting anafranil with lithium for 5 days and think I feel a little better but nothing
significant yet.Thanks,

Yes, I was on imipramine and lithium. I started the imipramine first .... some studies hinted that the TCA had to be in place first. So I titrated the imipramine up to about 100 mg per day over a week, then start 300 mg of lithium. About 5 days later, it was like a light switch. I wanted to live again. I wanted to breath the air, I wanted thrive at work, I wanted socialize. So it worked fairly quickly, studies postulate that lithium enhances serotonin transmission at the post synaptic region. Many people get effects in the first two weeks.
I ended up at 200 mg of imipramine and 900 mg of lithium (lithium level was 0.6).
