Ross, it's the aged cheeses that carry the most risks. Many, if not most, people can eat mild cheddar & mozza type cheeses. You just need to try a small bit at first & see how you react.
I know this may sound stupid, but put a gold star on each calendar day that you've passed till the 21st. At the end of each day you've made it through, give yourself a small reward of something - anything. Tackle it a bit like a smoker who's trying to quit.

> rossGet ready to be blown out of your depression and enter the world of the living. Off nardil, getting out of bed is tough. On nardil, I was probably one of the most social individuals at work. I went to dinner, out to the theatre-broadway, dated alot .... it was wonderful. When you are feeling the best ever in your life ... it is easy to give up aged cheeses.
Just promise to come back and visit babble once and awhile. Once your back into life, you may never need psycho babble again.

I found it took 1-2 weeks before I noticed the first effects. You might find that it relieves your anxiety sooner.
You don't need to stop eating *all* cheese. Remember that the pressor effect of tyramine is dose-dependent and that different cheeses have different amounts.

Are you waiting to start Nardil, that 2 week washout thing?
If so, your Dr. should be OK with you taking some things in interim which can help and no washout period.
1) Gabapentin (good for depression and anxiety)
2) Xanax (+ Ritalin) This combo would probably be a great help for you.
3) Provigil + Klonopin. (I take these 2 with Nardil). They work good just the 2 of them. (Rick takes these 2 alone). There's others - but above is good range of choices. There is no need to suffer like that in washout! Above are all safe and good up to day before Nardil. If your Dr. says no he should be able to state a reason (and there is none unless maybe he wants 1 day of no meds washout).
