Hi Everyone, I am on a mix of wellbutrin(300mg)morning and effexor (150mg) evenings. I would like to hear from anyone that is taking a combo of wellbutrin and effexor and what they are experiencing. I was really suprised to read the many problems people were having on effexor. The weight gain and the withdrawal symptoms really surprise me. I was told that effexor and wellbutrin would not cause weight gain???
Has anyone had any problems with weight gain or withdrawals using Wellbutrin? I have heard alot about effexor but not to much about wellbutrin.Thanks!!

I would like to ask you a few questions if you don't mind. What dose of effexor were you on? What level are you on now? How long did it take you to drop the weight gained from effexor?

> ReneeI tolerate it poorly, and cannot take more then 75mg a day which I think has minimal effect on weight. Anything beyond 75mg has to come from Wellbutrin or another drug. I am in the process of switching regimens as I write. On Zoloft however 100mg I gained 30 pounds and lost it over 8 weeks along with a starvation diet. Then I went back to normal eating and still kept losing weight. At 3 months everything I had gained was gone and then some since I did a little bit of exercising too. Hope that helps, but feel free to ask more questions if I haven't answered you fully.

Hi Scott, I wanted to know if you have noticed any weight problems with wellbutrin? I started to taper down my effexor. The last couple of days I have only taken 1 capsule which is 75mg. I am going to stay at this dose til I visit my doctor which will be soon. I am waiting for the bottom to drop out on me after reading all the withdrawal systems everyone seems to be having.
Actually, other then finding out that it does cause you to gain weight and making me a little tired, I had no problem with effexor. Now, I guess I need to find out if anyone is having problems with wellbutrin - I was told it wouldn't make you gain weight, but I was also told that about effexor - LOL.

I highly doubt that wellbutin would cause weight gain, although anything is possible I guess.
