Greetings,
Everything I read seems to indicate that Neurontin has failed the test of efficacy for bipolars. What has your experience been? Does it work?

Neurontin induces its own metabolism--I think most people are not taking enough Neurontin to make a difference. The guidelines for Epilepsy mention that 3600 mg/day is the max, but bipolars and unipolars may need up to 6000 mg.
Neurontin is more effective in bipolar depression than it is in mania. The classics Lithium and Depakote are still the gold standards in treating mania.

In my opinion, Neurontin alone is a bomb of a mood stabilizer. I cycle constantly while on low dose AD+Neurontin.
But as an add on to a major mood stabilizer (like lithium or depakote, etc), it works great for me and bp 2. I find Lithium and neurontin a nice combo. I feel very calm and without the rapid cycles. So, I wouldn't call it a complete failure!

What ... where do you get this stuff TCA West! 6000 mg a day is a *ridiculously* high dose, maybe lethal. You make this stuff up as you go along.

People shouldn't necessarily believe everything they hear, but please post anything that others could take as accusatory or put others down, thanks.
