Hi Sar,
I am gaining some weight as well. And I feel cognitively "dull" and kind of flat. I've heard others on this board mentioning the same kind of feeling on Lamictal.

Getting up in the morning is like climbing Mt. Everest -- I feel like a huge weight is on me and in my head. Takes a couple cups of coffee and a shower to shake it off.

I am up to 100 mg and am trying to increase up to 150. What dose are you taking?

>I started on lamictal about 2 weeks ago and am currently up to 75 mgs. I haven't noticed a dulling effect although I am taking Wellbutrin also which is supposedly activating. If anything I've had a harder time sleeping since I started lamictal. I am gaining some weight, but it's tough to know if that's the drug or holiday overindulging. Sar how much lamictal are you taking?

I've heard a lot about topomax "retardation", but not lamictal. I also gained weight on lamictal, fifteen pounds, which came off within two weeks after discontinuing (all water retention).

It took me over a month to get up to a dose which helped me a lot, but I was discouraged by the weight gain and went off.

I'm fairly sure Lamictal doesn't help what still exists of my ST memory but aside from that it definitely helps cognitively speaking; I can at least read a newspaper now. I experienced a slight improvement at as low a dose as 25mg and like dreamer even experienced some mild hypomania (when Klonopin was added - doesn't seem to work w/o this).

I've lost weight since starting Lamictal - no appetite - and have trouble sleeping on it (tho' running out of M doesn't help); it's 7:45am here and I'm yet to nod off.

J.
