hi there... i was on effexor XR (35 mg) for a month, then about 2 wks ago, went up to 150 mg. the doc said at 150 mg you should start feeling the effects- the "energy kick", motivation, etc. i still feel zombie-like, frozen, very hard to get motivated, concentrate (esp. on schoolwork) & get things done. am also very sleepy, have had to take a nap every day. no other side effects (except the sex thing, lol). i am trying to stay positive about it & give it a chance, but am getting impatient, & starting to feel like i'm just going to be disappointed again. anyone have any idea when i might feel something...?? i've heard 4 wks or so, do you have to be on 150 mg for 4 wks to feel better...??? i have long-term depression which is most likely genetic (as well as life-event-caused), & have been in a real bad slump for about 2 yrs.
still hoping for a miracle...
thanks for any advice,
reb

In reply to still waiting for effexor to kick in...., posted by reb on December 1, 2001, at 18:53:02
Hi back at ya!
I had to have my Effexor dosage brought up to 225mgs., before I started to feel anything...Now I feel great.
This is just my personal experience, but please give the Effexor a good try.
