Hi May~
I started Remeron at 15, moved to 30mgs. within 3-4 days, and felt anxiety relief within 10 days or less. I was asleep within 30 minutes after dosing and found it to be the most restful, restorative sleep I have ever experienced. I slept 7-8 hours, and felt no daytime grogginess.I used it for 5-6 weeks, but stopped due to the preoccupation with food it caused me. Don't remember how much I gained, but I was like a cow, constantly 'grazing'.
It did not help my depression either, & that is why I was trying it. But, it was very effective for anxiety, and at that time, I did not realize just how anxious I was.I now (about a year later) have a more pronounced anxiety problem, and I am not sure how to treat it. Just quit Zoloft, after 3 months. At 100mgs. it made me feel more anxiety, and never touched the depression.
What meds have you tried previously for anxiety? Is depression a factor in your condition? Have you already begun the Remeron?
Sincerely~Zannah

I have been on the remeron for 10 days.
I was previously on Efforx which worked on both the depression and anxiety but because of side effects (night terrors, and Sexual disfunction) I supidly took myself off. When I tried going back on effor on my own the axiety came back. My pdoc says the anxiety is due to my depression. I will be seeing my pdoc tomorrow and will see what comes of it. I have not had any problem with the eating yet but I have been reading a lot of problems with eating from other people.
When I was on effox for four years I was also put on estrogen because it was possible some of the problems may stem from menopause (am 50). But the gyn I was seeing is not longer practing so I am also going to see a new Gyn at the end of the month to have all my hormones tested. Hope fully something will come of all this.Sincerly May

I will be curious to see what he says. The rem. may still have a 'window' of effectiveness you've not yet reached, maybe? If it hasn't made u eat like a horse (or cow) yet, maybe it won't. We don't all respond the same way to all drugs, as I'm sure you know. When I tried Effexor, I didn't get past 2 weeks or 75mgs. It knocked me out (no typical 'activation' for me) and I slept nearly 20 hrs a day. I HAD to stop it, as I was a complete zombie.

Yes, I hope so, too. I am 45, had my first child at 40, and have certainly not been the same since! In good ways and bad, to be sure...Just searching for an answer is tiring, though. Good for you that you already have docs and appts. in place. I wish you the best of luck~
