I have taken both of them (but not as the same time). When you are saying you "was not your self" you are saying that you were having problems with thinking-behaving right? Depakote is fairly sedative and so is Topamax. You may have started off with too high of a dose. They recommend starting Topamax (i.e.) at 25-50mg/day and increasing it no faster than 25-50mg/day (for epilepsy). I find it strange also that you were started off on two meds instead of just one at first. (of course-unless you were already on one of these before the other was added).

Depakote and Topamax sound like a good combo: Depakote works primarily on the hypomania and the Topamax works on the depressive/cycling part of the disease....
Remember the proscription against contraceptive use with these two drugs (if applicable).

but I went I into a hyper-mania, and I thought maybe it was the depakote and topamax combination.
