I don't want to read the many other posts, because I don't want to induce any symptoms. However, something strange happened this morning and I just have to know if it is related. After being on Effexor XR for two years, my pdoc is lowering it, from 75 mg to 37.5 (I went from 150 to 75 a year ago with no problems that I recall). This is day three. I took 37.5 on Tuesday, 75 yesterday, and 37.5 this morning.
Anyway, about 11:45 this morning, I became extremely nauseated, went to the bathroom, threw up. Then 30 minutes later, ate lunch. I'm starting to feel nausea again (it's is now 3:30). Is it in my mind that it is related to the effexor (because I see all these posts about Effexor withdrawal, that I don't read because I don't want to even think about having problems when it is my turn)? Or might it be related?
Oh, by the way - I am not pregnant - no chance of that - that style is not my style. :)

Many people have reported major problems with Effexor withdrawal. Today is day 2 without Effexor and I feel fine. I was at 150mg for months. While get off of it my pdoc prescribed Wellbutrin SR 100mg and Effexor XR 75mg for one week. The next week I went up to Wellbutrin SR 150mg and Effexor 37.5mg. Just two days ago my pdoc added 20mg of Celexa to mix with the Wellbutrin SR 150mg while being off of Effexor.
This seems to be a gentle way to transition off of Effexor and onto other meds.
I don't know if you are getting off of meds all together. My pdoc has evaluated me and maintains that I will need meds for the balance of my life, most likely. I'm not sure what your situation is.
I have read that others add Prozac while decreasing the Effexor in order to get off of meds. The Prozac stays in the system longer while cutting the withdrawal symptoms.
I hope that this helps. Unfortunately each one of us seems to react differently to different meds so it is difficult to say what will work for you.

It may well be related to the withdrawal from Effexor. I always get VERY nauseated if coming off Effexor (I did it twice before).
This time I am coming off Effexor but going on Prozac. Two days with 75mg less Effexor and I feel OK because I increased my Prozac dose. A little dizziness late evening but otherwise OK.Hang in there.

I recently was on effexor for 3 weeks and didn't like the side effects..my dr put me on wellbrutin with it and that didn't help...so now i'm coming slowly off the effexor...150 tp 75 tp 37.5 ..i'm to the 75Mg this week....and still on 150mg of welbrutrin...and i'm getting really bad headaches....has anyone ever had this problem?
