Hi! About a month ago, I went up to 40 mg Prozac. I am now sleeping ALL the time. 12 hrs/night plus naps. Could this be from the prozac? It was very activating at 20 mg. And I figured it would be more activating at 40. Has anyone else had this happen? Thanks!

Prozac made me sleepy too. I began taking Prozac two months ago. I was taking 20 mg. per day.
I felt a little bit like my old self for a few days, then all of a sudden it popped out (sort of).
I wasn't doing much except eating and sleeping all the time, plus i felt kind of numb.
I went to a pdoc who told me to quit it, so i did.
I'm taking other medications right now.
I don't know wether you should quit or not, everybody it's different. Did you talk to your pdoc about that?

I've been on Sarafem (prozac) for about six weeks and I still feel a little tired. But the worse is the brain fog, lack of concentration, apathetic, can't focus. My doctor put me on Wellbutrin but it hasn't worked yet (I've been on it for over a week 75mg), I don't feel anything yet, I think I will ask her if she can increase the dose...have you guys felt these side effects that I've mentioned above?

I am currently taking the weekly prozac and find that I am not near as tired as I was taking the daily. I still stay up late and want to sleep all day but I find just getting out and walking for 20mins a day really helps. For some prozac is a stimulant however I never have had this problem. Dr wanted to add wellbutrin but I didn't want to add anything. One drug is enough. You should talk to your doc and see what he or she thinks.

Hello,
YES, I experienced ALL of the side effects you mention here when I was on Prozac -- my psychiatrist kept saying how rare it is to have those side effects, so it is comforting in a way to know that there are others out there who have felt the same way.Turns out that ALL of the SSRIs I've tried have had the same effects. I have added Wellbutrin (up to 300 mg) which did make the fatigue soemwhat more tolerable, but not enough to continue. The Wellbutrin alone wasn't enough to help the depression.
I am now researching other options. Sorry to hear you have those horrible side effects -- I truly know how it feels. I hope you find relief soon! Maybe a higher dose of WEllbutrin.
By the way, weren't you also asking about prozac/Wellbutrin and pregnancy? ... keep me posted on your decisions! I'm interested...
Take care,
