I've heard about it pooping out for depression, and I've heard that it doesn't
poop-out for ADD.....But what if you have ADD as well as depression? I've just
started Ritalin and my doctor believes that I have both ADD and depression.

I.e, will having ADD make poop-out for depression less likely?

Theres no reason why it would poop out for both; some folks take a drug for years and it works great. I suspect the "poop out" is just the placebo effect blowing over and the drug never really worked anyway? A head full of speed will probably keep working. I doubt dexamphetamine will lay down and roll over.

You said that Ritalin does not poop-out for ADD. That's also my understanding. I didn't know that Ritalin alone could treat depression. I know that Ritalin used along with an antidepressant is good for depression.
I would just see how things go with the Ritalin. If in the future you find that you still have depression, then you can add an antidepressant to take along with the Ritalin.

If someone had a depression that was lifted by a stimulant like Ritalin or Adderall alone, wouldn't you start wondering if their wasn't something wrong with their body instead of their brain? Cuz wouldn't that mean it was just a physical depression?

Also, how would one know if they had ADD if they had depression, when the symptoms of ADD are frequently encompassed in the depression symptoms?? I mean, mostly the symptoms of ADD are part and parcel of depression, for me at least, so how would anyone ever know...?
I'm confused.... :/

Try this link:

Tho it's for differentiating BP from ADHD, many of the points can also
be applied to depression vs. ADHD.

Thankee kindly. What that looks like is....ADHD is generally even-tempered children with too much energy, where BP is longer-term bad-temperedness.
Does that sound like a reasonable condensation?...So I was walking along today, talking to my friend...just, flip flip flip flip from topic to topic and idea to idea and there wasn't even a proper conversation going on cuz I couldn't focus long enuf to hold one...
I was diagnosed with major depression around 1994-1995 and I'm wondering if I should be on something for ADD as well. I've sorta always blamed the problems on the depression, but it might be easier to deal with the depression if I had a little more control over my concentration. :/
