Does lamictal potentiate clonazepam? I have seen interactions with other antileptics and ad's, but the benzos haven't been mentioned as to the effect of lamictal on them, (even in the PDR). Thx.

Hi Lois,
I don't think they use the same pathways- but I'm on both and will ask my pdoc Thursday. Are you having more of a sedating effect- mentioned as side effects of both. What dose are you on? Take care, Judy

Judy,
I am on 1mg clonipin at night and 0.5mg in morning.I am also on a lot of other things, but the Lamictal has just been upped to 125mg in morning and 125mgs at lunch.I actually feel more energetic, but occasionally a little panicky, (not new). What did your doc say?

Hi Lois- Actually he thinks I'm manic and didn't get into the whole realtionship- but I'm only on a 100mg lamictal and feel GREAT (copyright- tony the tiger). And 6 mg of klonopin and risperdal which he wants to up but I don't THINK so. Do you have bipolar disorder, I swear this is the second time this stuff has pulled me out of a depression, I LOVE it!! He talked a lot about watching for rashes when I started and just added 25mg a week- wow you're on a lot- but you are getting that energizing feeling maybe increase the klonopin for the panic?? Good luck!!! Judy

Judy,
Hi. I am feeling better and better on the lamictal. It seems to me that you're on a lot of Klonipin. Go figure.
When *I* was hypomanic(no one could tell me then that I was), anyway I kept telling people that I felt "GREAT!" FWIW
Steady as she goes.
Take care,
Lois
