Going off Effexor

Posted by pyrogrl on December 7, 2000, at 14:18:25

I'm sure this has been hashed about before, but I need to go off Effexor XR, I can't afford to stay on it, and I've only got 17 pills left. I've been on 75mg a day, but I've stretched it to one every 3 days. I can't seem to go to one every 4 days b/c of the withdrawal, I can't function, drive or work. Does anyone know if I can seperate the pills and take half a one every 3 days? Will that help lessen the symptons when I do go off of them?

My pdoc says that taking prozac for a couple of days while you are going through withdrawl will help. Prozac apparently has a long half life so you only have to take a couple of times.
