Celexa

Posted by Claudette on November 25, 2000, at 17:16:04

I have been given celexa as a med to help contol the muscle spasms that wretch my body. I have been diagnosed as having chronic pain. The celexa is one of the first antidepressants that has been prescribed to me that has minimal side effects. I find that i get alot of headaches and that it hasn't helped my sleep patterns any, all the others i have tried have had very disturbing side effects such as nightmares and mood swings.I wonder about the use of these meds for pain, I have not had any pain relief from any of them
and find that since i've been on antidepressants,I have been less social and more fatigued. Is this a normal reaction , my doctor thinks its all in my head.

If you've got a doc who thinks it's all in your head, why don't you try a "head" doctor, aka psychiatrist, and find our for sure? Regular primary care docs are usually not well trained or experienced in treating this sort of thing. Celexa takes a while to kick in fully and is not something to be experimented with.
