prozak withdrawal

I quit taking prozak after one year and after about 1 week
am feeling very depressed with aches and pains. Are there
withdrawal symptoms from Prozak. Should I have
notified my doctor first?

James here....

Given Prozac's long half life I would not think this is
withdrawal, I would guess your depression, which was controled
by Prozac, is showing itself as the level of Prozac
goes down in your system. Yes you should of spoken to
you doctor b4 stopping this med or any med. Please speak with
your doc, lots of ppl stop their meds w/o asking the doc, he/she will
not be mad, and can help you stay well.
