I am interested in hearing from folks who started off
with difficult side effects on Celexa and now are doing
quite well, with resolution of side effects.I just re-started Celexa at 10 mg. (20 mg made me
very anxious, my heart was racing, I couldn't go to
work, etc.) I have to confess that reading about all
the side effects folks have experienced is making me
nervous. I'm wondering whether people who start out
having problems ever experience the same drug efficacy as
folks who don't have problems.I am going to be on vacation shortly and want to decide
what to do before I go so that this drug doesn't ruin
our trip.Thanks,
Harriet

Harriet,
Celexa has been quite effective.
I have had just about every side effect you can think of when starting celexa & with zoloft as well. The side effects do resolve.
It took about 2 weeks for the side effects to get to the minor nusiance level.
The one that I had the most trouble with was /is jitters /tremor. This was present with both meds.
Inderal 80mg /day has pretty much taken care of this while on the celexa..
A benzo like klonipin, can also help with the jitters as it is most likely residual anxiety related.
Startup side effects have nothing to do with how effective the drug will be.

Celexa has been a wonder for me. I was noticing changes within 48 hours or so.
My side effects were not bad. I had diarrhea for a week or so on and off. I was a bit sleepy in the late
afternoons, so I would cat-nap for 1/2 hour or so when I had the chance. The dry mouth was probably
the worst of my symptoms. It did last for a long time (months in fact) but for what it (Celexa) gives me
I would gladly take on much worse side effects if I knew that the rewards would be this good.
I have been on more than my share of AD's but this is the only one that has worked for me for so long.
Best of luck.
