I was just at my pdoc today and decided to try 20mg Paxil in the morning and 35mg Remeron at bedtime. I am worried about the sedative properties of both. I would prefer to go with an SSRI and Reboxetine to get more NE reuptake inhibition. Might and up going with Celexa and Remeron since Celexa is less sedative. Paxil and Effexor are the most sedative. I want to get just the right combo of serotenergic noradrenergic effects might take some trial and error or this might work.

I was on Remeron plus Paxil for a while and it was hopeless for me. I got some calming effect frm the Paxil, but the Remeron made me sooo sleepy. I switched to reboxetine plus Paxil, and it was great for a while, but now its just so-so. However, its the only combination that's worked at all for me so far. Any of the above 3 alone do nothing for my depression.

How are you getting the reboxetine? I took 30mg of Remeron last night and am feeling very sedated today. It's a histamine antagonist which probably causes the drowsiness. Will probably have to go up to 45mg and see if this works to eleviate the problem. First day on new regimen so have to give it a chance. Again how are you getting reboxetine?
Thanx, Joel

Joel
Re. the availability of reboxetine, I'm in the UK, and reboxetine is a standard prescription drug here. When I tried Remeron, I went up to 30mg max I think, which made me very sedated. As you suggest, it is supposed to get activating rather than sedating at higher doses (I guess at 45mg or higher), but I never tried that. 2 days on 30mg was more than enough. I wish I had given it a go now, as it is supposed to be very good when it works!
I hope to hear how you get on.
