Another interpretation I heard when much younger was that Hamlet could not make up his mind (OCD?).--Cindy W

All great characters are crazy! Otherwise we'd be bored stiff watching the likes of Doris Day or, even worse, boring people going to the office doing boring jobs and having simple opinions
