Hi,
Ive recently found this site and hoped you all could give me some info. My husband has recently (Sept)started treatment for bipolar disorder. The pdoc started him on Neurontin, up to 1500mgs. There were significant signs of improvement for a while then it seemed his mania started creeping back. So we asked the pdoc to add a low dose of Lithobid (starting at 300mgs then up to 600mgs) Id heard from my internet support group that this has worked well for some (mixed states or ultra rapid cyclers)
Does anyone here have any experience with this combo?
Thankyou in advance
Helouise

Helouise: I have taken both at the same time, but not for bipolar. I'm ADD-H and Dysthymic and had a terible neurological disorder (severe ear pain - Neurologist rx'd Neurontin and went up to 3600mg with less than desirable results for pain). To answer your question, partly, it's a safe mix, both are excellent mood stabilizers. He may have to go up on the lithium since 300-600 is sort of low, however it may do the trick. Bottom line is, don't be supprised if the doc ups the lithium dose. FYI, I take lithium 900 and Parnate 60. I hope all works well for him and you. Best of blessings!
