After 3 years on 1000mgs of Depakote and forty pounds, with 400mgs of Wellbutrin and T3 T4 and at various times with the additione of Luvox and xoloft(Luvox made me sleepier, xoloft precipitated mania) my doc is suggesting a change to Lamictal. My biggest complaint is a lack of relief of my continual depression . Supposedly of the mood stabilizers Lamictal has the most snti-depressive effect, but I'm afraid of the side effects and feel I would prefer Topamax so I could lose this damn weight!! Maybe it would help me be less depressed not to be so fat. Any help with this?

In reply to anyone on Lamictal???, posted by joe on May 26, 1999, at 11:04:27
I took Lamictal (500mg) for several months (for unipolar depression). It never did anything for me but had no side effects either. Definitely no weight gain.
I hear it's better for bipolar depression. (Just a rumor.)
