My 51 year old husband of 30 years has, in the past 5 years, developed some bi-polar like symptoms. He very strongly disagrees with this diagnosis and insists I am trying to box him into a disease. In the Fall, when our job related stress eases up, he goes into a "manic" type mood which sometimes frightens me, but which he seems to feel is fairly normal. In the summer, when his job related stress is extreme, he is depressed, hard to get along with and very demanding of our employees. Our family doctor started Mike on lithium three weeks ago, but he is discontinuing that because it makes him toooo lethargic (he says persons with less fortitude than his would just stay in bed all day, feeling the was he does on lithium) Now he is beginning to take neurontin. We would like to hear from anyone in Mike's general age group with similiar experience. We own our own business, Mike is a definite Type A personality (driven, perfectionist, successful) and we wonder what to expect from neurontin in the longer term....the lithium knocked him out of his manic mood (for which he is very angry) and now we wonder if neurontin will bring him up from the some-what depressed state he's in now. Thanks, in advance, to anyone who is willing to give us some input and ideas. Mickie and Mike

You can try reading my posts which explain my experience with Neurontin, but I am about 20 years younger than your husband. Still, the posts can give you a glimpse on how Neurontin has helped me.
